Head to Head
England have won the last three ODIs between the sides, the most recent of which came in the 2019 Cricket World Cup.
England were also 2-1 winners of a three-match series played in July 2018.
India sealed a comeback win to seal the T20 series 3-2 against England on Saturday.
Having trailed 2-1 in the five-match series, Virat Kohli's side won the final two games to add T20 success to the earlier test series victory over England.
An unbeaten 80 not out from Virat Kohli and 62 from Rohit Sharma helped India to 224/2. Dawid Malan (62) and Jos Buttler (52) had England well in contention, but they lost steady wickets and fell to a 36-run defeat.
India have not been in ODI action since losing 2-1 to Australia Down Under in November and December last year. They did win the most recent match after losing the opening two games.
India Injuries & Team News
Batsman Suryakumar Yadav, fast bowler Prasidh Krishna and allrounder Krunal Pandya could all make their ODI debuts after being called up for the first time.
Fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah is given a rest. Quick Mohammed Shami is out with a wrist injury.
England led in both the test and T20 series, but the tourists lost both. The 3-2 defeat in the 20-over format will be particularly painful having needed to win only one of the final two matches.
Dawid Malan and Jos Buttler got England into a strong position in the run chase on Saturday. But England scored just 48 runs and lost six wickets in the last 5.3 overs to lose the decider.
England had also lost the last three tests of a four-match series having taken a 1-0 lead in the opener.
Eoin Morgan's side lost their last ODI series when going down 2-1 to Australia at home in September. England have now lost 3 of their last 4 ODIs having also been beaten by Ireland.
England Injuries & Team News
England have suffered a blow with fast bowler Jofra Archer ruled out of the series due to an elbow injury.
Lancashire spinner Matt Parkinson takes his place in the England squad.
Test captain Joe Root and seamer Chris Woakes have been rested. Batsman Dawid Malan and fast bowlers Jake Ball and Chris Jordan are named as reserves for the ODIs.
