Rassie van der Dussen has been in good form with the bat for South Africa. Despite not getting to bat in the 1st ODI, the middle-order batsman is tipped to score over 25.5 runs as our best bet.

  • Ireland have lost 5 of their last 6 ODI matches.
  • South Africa have won their last 4 ODI matches against Ireland.
  • South Africa’s Rassie van der Dussen has scored 123 & 60 runs in his last 2 ODI matches.

Head to Head

South Africa have won all four previous ODI meetings with Ireland. The 1st ODI of the current series ended in a washout. South Africa won their last completed match by 206 runs in 2016.

Ireland Form

Ireland are not in good form after losing five of their last six ODI matches. Those defeats have come against Afghanistan and Netherlands.

In the 1st ODI of the current series, Ireland started quite well in Dublin. They batted first with William Porterfield scoring 63 runs at the top of the innings.

Andy Balbirnie added 65 to take Ireland to 195-4 after 40 overs. Unfortunately the match was constantly interrupted by rain and they never got back onto the field after the last interruption.

Ireland Injuries & Team News

Neil Rock has tested positive for COVID-19. He has been replaced in the squad by Stephen Doheny.

South Africa Form

South Africa have only played three ODIs since lockdown began in March 2020. All three were at home against Pakistan of which the Proteas lost two.

South Africa won the toss and elected to bowl first in the 1st ODI against Ireland in Dublin. Kagiso Rabada was superb in his eight overs, taking 2-43.

Unfortunately rain curtailed the match as no further play was possible after 40 overs of the Irish innings. Rassie van der Dussen is the form batsman in the side at the moment having scored 50+ in his last two ODI matches.

South Africa Injuries & Team News

South Africa will probably stick to the same side that played in the 1st ODI considering that the game was not complete.

They rested the likes of Quinton de Kock so Kyle Verrynne should continue with wicket-keeping duties.
