Sri Lanka vs West Indies 3rd ODI Preview, Predictions & Betting Tips

Sri Lanka face West Indies in the 3rd and final ODI at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium with the hosts favourites to claim a 3-0 clean sweep. Kusal Mendis and Avishka Fernando were magnificent in the 2nd ODI and are backed in the run scoring markets.

West Indies' Shai Hope has been the only batsman to perform over the last two ODIs with one 100+ score and another 50+ score.

Sri Lanka Form

Sri Lanka have won the first two ODIs of this three-match series against the West Indies. While the 1st ODI ended with a rather fortunate one wicket victory the hosts were completely dominant in the 2nd ODI in Hambantota.

Batting first Avishka Fernando scored 127 runs and Kusal Mendis 119 runs as Sri Lanka amassed a total of 345 runs. It was always going to be a very tough chase on a wearing pitch and Sri Lanka’s spinners did the trick.

Wanindu Hasaranga took 3-30 and Lakshan Sandakan 3-57 as the Windies fell for a measly 184 runs to hand Sri Lanka a massive 161-run victory. It is with Avishka Fernando and Kusal Mendis that the value lies considering their domination of the West Indies attack last time out.

Sri Lanka News

Sri Lanka have no need to change or experiment with what is proving to be a dominant side in this series. Considering their poor run in recent times I feel they’ll stick with the side that has won the first two ODIs.

West Indies Form

The West Indies came into this series off the back of some solid ODI form and were unfortunate to lose the 1st ODI to Sri Lanka. The 2nd ODI was however a different story as the Windies lost by 161 runs in Hambantota.

Other than Sheldon Cottrell and Jason Holder the bowlers really struggled as Sri Lanka scored a mammoth 345 runs. In reply Shai Hope scored 51 runs after his 115 runs in the 1st ODI. No other batsman came to the party as the West Indies were dismissed for 184 runs.

Shai Hope has been brilliant over the last year for the West Indies and has shown superb form in Sri Lanka already. He deserves backing in the best batsman market at 3.75.

West Indies News

The West Indies are 2-0 down in the series and may well look to make some changes. Brandon King may get the nod over Darren Bravo while Hayden Walsh and Romario Shepherd will be keen to solidify the bowling attack.

Sri Lanka vs West Indies Head to Head

Sri Lanka have won eight of their last nine ODIs against the West Indies with the last one ending in a humiliating 161-run loss to the Windies in Hambantota.

Sri Lanka vs West Indies Betting Odds

Sri Lanka re favourites at 1.61 with the West Indies priced at 2.30. Kusal Mendis and Avishka Fernando can be backed in the best Sri Lanka batsman market at 4.33.

Shai Hope is priced at 3.75 to be the West Indies best batsman with Darren Bravo paying 4.50. Hope is valued at 1.83 to score over 36.5 runs.

The Man of the Match market offers opportunity as Shai Hope and Avishka Fernando are both paying 11.00, Angelo Mathews and Kusal Mendis 12.00 and Darren Bravo 13.00.

Sri Lanka vs West Indies Match Up

Sri Lanka have lost early wickets in both the opening two matches but one of their batsman in the middle order have come through for them each time. West Indies’ fast bowler Sheldon Cottrell has been magnificent but the back-up bowling has let the team down. That will need to change if they are to come away from the series with some pride.
