Value on Gayle to fail in the batsman match runs market in third ODI at Queens Park Oval

West Indies vs India 3rd ODI Preview, Predictions, Betting Tips & Live Stream

The third ODI between West Indies and India takes place in Port of Spain at the Queens Park Oval. I am backing Virat Kohli in the batman runs scored market again after his 120 runs in the previous ODI.

Chris Gayle is not having a good time of it and he is predicted to score under 26.5, while the in-form Evin Lewis is tipped to score 50+ runs.

West Indies Form & Team News

The West Indies' ODI form has been poor but their ability to pull off a big result every so often may have some finding value in an outright win at 3.50. In the previous ODI they bowled well and restricted India to a manageable 279 run total despite a Virat Kohli's century.

Carlos Brathwaite was superb with the ball in hand taking 3-53. Evin Lewis set the hosts on their way to victory with a fine 65 runs but his teammates failed to offer much support. Only Nicholas Pooran showed some resistance for his 42 runs but ultimately the West Indies were dismissed for 210 runs, losing by 59 runs.

In the first ODI Evin Lewis scored 40 not out before rain curtailed his innings, and he followed that up with 65 runs in the second ODI. I think he offers value at 3.00 to score 50+ runs. I see no end to Chris Gayle’s horrible form and he is my best bet to score under 26.5 runs at 1.83.

India Form & Team News

India are likely to stick with the same team as they head into the third and final ODI of the series. After a washed-out first match, India won the second at the Queens Park Oval by 59 runs.

Virat Kohli starred with the bat scoring 120 runs. He was well supported by Shreyas Iyer who scored 71 runs – they were the only two batsmen to surpass 20 runs. The 279 run total was a good effort on a slow pitch and Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s 4-31 wrapped things up for the visitors as the West Indies fell for 210 runs.

Virat Kohli was due a big score after scoring five 50+ scores at the World Cup but not going on to score a century. I am tipping him in the batsman match runs market to get over 49.5 runs at 1.83.

India are outright favourites to win at 1.30 but that is very short considering the West Indies’ ability to produce a surprise.

West Indies vs India Head to Head

India have now beaten the West Indies in six of their last eight ODI meetings while only losing once. The West Indies couldn’t improve that record in their last match at the Queens Park Oval as India steamrolled them for 210 runs while chasing 279.

West Indies vs India Match Up

The West Indies bowling attack proved that they have the capability to handle a strong Indian batting line-up. Unfortunately their batting has continuously let them down.

Virat Kohli scored a century last time out and will once again be the rock the rest look to bat around. Getting him out will be key to the hosts’ cause.

West Indies vs India Key Statistics

  • West Indies Evin Lewis has scored 40 not out and 65 in his last 2 ODI innings.
  • West Indies Chris Gayle has failed to reach 26.5 runs in 4 of his last 5 ODI innings.
  • India’s Virat Kohli has scored 50+ runs in 6 of his last 9 ODI innings.
  • India’s Virat Kohli scored 120 runs in his last ODI innings.

Virat Kohli is tipped to star again following his century in the second ODI. It has been a tough patch of form for Chris Gayle who is likely to score under 26.5 runs for the fourth time in five innings.

Evin Lewis has been in cracking form in the opening two ODI’s I believe there is value in him to score 50+ runs at 3.00.

Post bet analysis

Batting first the West Indies got off the a cracking start. Chris Gayle unfortunately came good after a horrid run of form which meant my best bet fell flat. Virat Kohli scored another century which means he came through for the second game running.
It was touch and go for the value bet as Evin Lewis looked well on his way to a score of 50+ runs but he fell seven runs short for 43. Overall not a great betting game with 4.5 units lost.
