Canterbury Kings vs Central Stags Predictions

Chad Bowes has been instrumental in seeing the Canterbury Kings win their opening two matches of the Super Smash. At home I’m backing the Kings and Bowes to succeed again.

  • Canterbury Kings’ Chad Bowes has scored 72 & 39 runs in his last 2 matches.
  • Canterbury Kings have won their last 2 matches.
  • Central Stags’ George Worker has scored 71, 79 & 102 in 3 of his last 4 matches.

Head to Head

The Canterbury Kings lead 12-11 in their 23 matches against the Central Stags. They last met in the 2019/20 Super Smash at Hagley Oval where the Stags won by 17 runs.

Canterbury Kings Form

The Canterbury Kings are in third place on the Super Smash table but only have two games under the belt. They have won both of those matches.

The Kings won their first match against the Otago Volts by a convincing 61 run margin at Molyneux Park. That was followed with another win in their last match against the Auckland Aces at Eden Park.

The match was heavily affected by rain so it turned into a five over per team match. The Aces scored 52 runs in their five overs but the Kings chased it down without losing a wicket, winning with three balls to spare.

Chad Bowes scored 39 runs from 14 balls to follow on from his 72 in the Kings’ opening match.

Canterbury Kings Injuries & Team News

The New Zealand internationals are unlikely to be available so the Kings should go in with the same team. They have won two from two and have little reason to change.

Once Matt Henry, Tom Latham and Henry Nicholls become available we could see some changes.

Central Stags Form

The Central Stags are second on the Super Smash table, one place above the Kings but have played three games more. With three wins from their opening five it still represents a solid start to the Stags campaign.

Last time out the Central Stags destroyed the Otago Volts by 53 runs at the Otago Oval. George Worker batted beautifully for his 106 runs while Will Young contributed 50 in a total of 223.

Ajaz Patel was the pick of the Stags bowlers, taking 3-34 in his four overs. The Volts could only managed 170 in their 20 overs.

Central Stags Injuries & Team News

Two of the Stags international players featured in their last match. Will Young and Ajaz Patel were two of the star performers. Ross Taylor is not available for selection just yet.
