Pakistan lead England 3-2 in their last five completed T20I matches. In the first T20I of this series Pakistan won by 31 runs in Nottingham.
England have won eight of their last 12 T20I matches but lost the opening match of the current series to Pakistan by 31 runs.
On a flat pitching in Nottingham, England bowled first. All the bowlers were expensive but Tom Curran did manage to take two wickets. Pakistan scored a massive 232 runs in their 20 overs.
England were in the run chase all the way until the 18th over. That was mainly thanks to an incredible 103 runs off 43 balls by Liam Livingstone – it was England’s fastest ever T20I century.
Unfortunately no one managed to support Livingstone sufficiently and once he was dismissed, the hosts’ challenge disappeared. They were bowled out for 201 with five balls remaining.
England Injuries & Team News
England are likely to make a few changes. Jos Buttler will almost certainly feature if he is passed fit and could come in for Moeen Ali. Chris Jordan and Adil Rashid will also be hoping to get a run in Leeds.
Pakistan proved their T20I credentials by beating England in the 1st T20 of the series in Nottingham. It was an incredible batting performance that took Pakistan to their highest ever total of 232 runs.
Mohammad Rizwan and Babar Azam put on a 150-run opening partnership with Azam scoring 85 and Rizwan 63 runs. Thereafter a few cameos from the likes of Fakhar Zaman and Mohammad Hafeez helped Pakistan to 232.
England came out swinging with the bat but Shaheen Shah Afridi was superb, taking 3-30 in just over three overs. Pakistan bowed their hosts out for 201 runs to secure a 31-run win.
