New Zealand vs Pakistan Predictions

Australia are the bookies favourites for this series, but I fancy the hosts to get the job done in the opening game. The Aussies have conceded 200+ runs in their last 3 games so they can be vulnerable there. My best bet is a Black Cap win.

  • New Zealand have won 4 of their last 5 T20I matches.
  • New Zealand have won 2 of their last 3 T20I matches against Australia.
  • New Zealand’s Finn Allen has scored 74 & 137 runs in 2 of his last 4 matches.
  • Australia have won 2 of their last 3 T20I matches.
  • Australia have conceded 200+ runs in their last 3 T20I matches.
  • Australia’s David Warner has scored 70+ runs in 2 of his last 3 T20I matches.

Head to Head

Australia have won three of their last five T20I matches against New Zealand, but it is the Black Caps who won their last encounter by 89 runs in 2022.

New Zealand Form

New Zealand come into this series having just beaten South Africa 2-0 in a Test series at home. Just prior to that, the Black Caps saw off Pakistan 4-1 in a T20I series.

New Zealand cruised into a 4-0 lead in the series before losing the final match by 42 runs. During the series, the Black Caps were not short of runs, scoring 200+ on two occasions, 194 on another and then they chased down 158 inside 19 overs.

Finn Allen was key to New Zealand’s success, scoring 74 and 137 runs in the 2nd and 3rd T20. Kane Williamson, Daryl Mitchell and Glenn Phillips also scored some solid runs during the series.

New Zealand Injuries & Team News

There is no Kane Williamson for this series but otherwise the hosts look like they are at full strength. Mitchell Santner will captain the side.

Australia Form

Australia, much like the hosts, come into this series full of confidence. They defeated the West Indies 2-1, losing the last match. However, Australia scored 213, 241 and 183 runs in the three games.

Concerning for the Aussies will be that in all three matches, the West Indies were allowed to score 200+ runs as well. While the hosts were not near full strength, they will have to rethink their bowling options.

What will please Australia is the return to form of David Warner. The left-hander was in fine form, hitting 70 and 81 runs in the first and third T20I’s against the Windies.

Australia Injuries & Team News

Pat Cummins and Mitchell Starc are both back in the squad which should strengthen the bowling department tremendously.
