Much of the revival of the T20 side has to do with the emergence of Glenn Phillips and Devon Conway. They will once again be out to prove a point in the 2nd T20.
Australia Form
Australia’s last T20 series took place in December 2020 which saw them lose 2-1 to India in home conditions. They would have wanted to rectify that with a series win over New Zealand but suffered defeat at the first hurdle in Christchurch.
Aaron Finch sent the hosts in to bat and started well with the ball. But after the first five overs, everything seemed to go wrong for the visitors.
The Black Caps posted 184-5 in their 20 overs, a big chase for any side. Australia faltered early on as only Mitchell Marsh showed any real quality, scoring 45 runs in a 131-run total.
Australia Injuries & Team News
Australia could look to make a few changes after bringing a young squad across the Tasman.
Josh Philippe made his debut, but batted at three opposed to his normal opening birth. He could swap positions with Matthew Wade at the top of the order.
D’Arcy Short will also be looking to get a run in the opening batsmen birth. After impressive Big Bash performances, Ashton Turner and Ben McDermott are sure to get a run in the middle order at some point in the five-match series.
