This remains a very even contest given the nature of the first game. It came down to the final delivery of the match, but the Aussies pulled through in the end.

There will still be concern around the Australian bowlers who have now conceded 200+ in four successive games. I am backing the hosts to hold their nerve this time and take the wn.

Australia have won four of their last six T20I matches against New Zealand. In the opening match of this series, the Aussies won a thriller off the final ball of the match.

New Zealand Form

New Zealand were in good form coming into this series and after batting first, would have had even more confidence. They dominated the Aussie bowlers in the first T20, scoring 215 runs in their 20 overs.

Finn Allen got off to a flyer, scoring 32 off 17 balls, but it was Devon Conway (63) and Rachin Ravindra (68) that set the tone with a 113-run stand for the second wicket.

On a good batting surface, the Aussies were always in the game though. The Black Caps bowlers seemed to keep the game in check for most of the 20 overs, but they fell horribly short towards the end as the Aussies won by six wickets.

Despite defeat, New Zealand are likely to stay with a similar side. We may see a couple of rotations though.

Australia Form

Australia will be pleased with their victory in the first T20 considering how tense it was. In an absolute thriller, they won off the final ball of the match.

The bowlers struggled to contain the hosts as New Zealand scored 215 runs batting first. At one point it looked like it may be considerably more, but a couple of decent overs towards the death kept it under 220.

Travis Head and David Warner got the Aussies off to a decent start, but both fell just as they got going. Mitchell Marsh anchored the innings with 72 off 44 balls, but once Glenn Maxwell was out for 25 off 11, the Aussies struggled to find their timing.

That was until Tim David smashed 31 off just 10 balls to take Australia to victory.

Pat Cummins, Josh Hazelwood and Mitchell Starc played in the opener. I expect them to be rotated for the remaining games in the series.
