New Zealand vs Pakistan Predictions

New Zealand’s Tim Seifert has been in stellar form in the first two T20’s so should be backed again to be among the runs. Kane Williamson returned to the T20 fold in the last match with a score of 50+ runs and should definitely be looked at for this match.

  • New Zealand’s Tim Seifert has scored 57 and 84 runs in his last 2 matches.
  • New Zealand’s Kane Williamson returned to T20 cricket by scoring 57 off 42 balls in his last match
  • New Zealand lead the 3-match series 2-0 after winning the first two T20’s.
  • Pakistan’s Mohammad Hafeez scored 99 runs in the 2nd T20.

Head to Head

Pakistan have won five of their last seven T20 matches against New Zealand but it is the Black Caps who won the last two matches in this series. New Zealand won the 1st T20 by five wickets and T20 by nine wickets.

New Zealand Form

New Zealand head into the final T20 of this three-match series with a 2-0 lead after claiming a nine wicket victory in Hamilton on Sunday.

Much like the 1st T20, New Zealand started well with the ball after losing the toss. Tim Southee put in a man of the match performances with figures of 4-21 in four overs, restricting Pakistan to a total of 163 runs.

In reply New Zealand rarely looked in trouble. Martin Guptill scored 21 before he was dismissed with the total on 35. Kane Williamson (57) and Tim Seifert (84) were quite brilliant as they steered the Black Caps home without losing another wicket.

New Zealand Injuries & Team News

New Zealand are likely to make wholesale changes to their lineup with the series won and the Test series just days away.

Jacob Murphy and Mark Chapman both performed well in the 1st T20 but were dropped in favour of more experienced players in the second match. They should both return for this match.

Given that this was Kane Williamson’s first T20 of the summer he should feature in the final match but Trent Boult and Tim Southee could both be rested.

Pakistan Form

In the 1st T20 Pakistan started poorly with the bat and that put them on the backfoot for the rest of the match. If their goal was to change that in the 2nd T20 they unfortunately failed.

Batting first Pakstan again found themselves at 56-4 before Mohammad Hafeez played a magnificent innings. He scored 99 off 57 balls as the visitors went on to a total of 163. No other batsmen scored more than 22 runs.

The total of 163 runs was defendable but still below par. Faheem Ashraf and Shadab Khan kept Pakistan in the game with fine bowling performances, although they only managed one wicket between them. It was the economy rates of 6 and 5.70 that made life difficult for New Zealand.

Unfortunately the fast bowlers failed to back them up with similar economy rates and the lack of wickets always made it comfortable for New Zealand. Pakistan did well to force the match into the final over.

Pakistan Injuries & Team News

Pakistan may look to make changes with the Test series in mind but their options are limited. Babar Azam and Imam-ul-Haq have not only been ruled out of the 3rd T20, but also the 1st Test.

Fast bowler Shaheen Afridi has played both T20’s so could well sit out the third one. He will be expected to spearhead the Pakistan bowling attack in the Test series.

Usman Qadir, Muhammad Musa and Mohammad Hasnain are all options for Pakistan with ball in hand. On the batting front further changes are possible although many players seem to be horribly out of form at the moment.
