Pakistan vs South Africa Predictions
Pakistan just got over the line in the 1st T20 and will look to build on that momentum. Mohammad Rizwan is tipped to score over 24.5 runs as my best bet after scoring 104 runs on Thursday.
- Pakistan’s Mohammad Rizwan has scored 89 & 104 runs in his last 2 T20 matches.
- Pakistan’s Babar Azam averaged 50.93 runs per innings in T20 cricket.
- Pakistan have won 6 of their last 8 T20 matches.
- South Africa’s Reeza Hendricks scored 54 runs in his last T20 match.
- South Africa have lost 6 of their last 8 T20 matches.
Head to Head
South Africa lead Pakistan 8-7 in their 15 previous T20 matches. Pakistan won the 1st T20 of this series by three runs in Lahore.
Pakistan will look to wrap the series up against South Africa by making it 2-0 before the final match of the series. They however did not have things all their own way in the 1st T20, despite being heavily favoured against a second string Proteas lineup.
Batting first in Lahore, Pakistan scored 169 runs, a very competitive score on the ground. Mohammad Rizwan batted magnificently for his 104 runs of 64 balls. The next highest score was Haider Ali on 21 runs as star batsman, Babar Azam fell first ball.
Haris Rauf and Faheem Ashraf struggled with the ball, both going at over 11 runs to the over. Usman Qadir was impressive with figures of 2-21 in four overs. In the end, Pakistan held on to win by three runs.
Pakistan Injuries & Team News
Pakistan have a few youngsters within their squad but will probably want to win the series before giving them a run. Fast bowler, Shaheen Shah Afridi is in need of a rest so we could see him make way in the 2nd T20.
South Africa Form
South Africa will be buoyed by their performance in the 1st T20 international. Despite missing nine first choice players, they fought brilliantly and arguably should have won the match in Lahore.
At no point did the Proteas allow Pakistan to completely dominate in the first innings as the hosts posted 169 in 20 overs. They took regular wickets which allowed them to keep the run rate in check.
Janneman Malan (44) and Reeza Hendricks (54) got South Africa off to a great start with a 53-run opening stand. Unfortunately wickets fell quickly thereafter as the visitors could not maintain the required run rate.
Right at the end, through some fine batting and luck, Dwaine Pretorius and Bjorn Fortuin almost got South Africa over the line. They required a six off the final ball to win, but Fortuin could not find the leverge to clear the ropes.
South Africa Injuries & Team News
The tour is about experimenting with some new players for South Africa so we could see some changes for the 2nd T20.
Ryan Rickelton , Pite van Biljon, Glenton Stuurman and JJ Smuts will all me looking for an opportunity over the next two matches.
