South Africa go into the 3rd and final T20 against England at Newlands 2-0 down in the series. England have proven their superiority and South Africa seem to have no answers.

Unless things change dramatically in the hosts camp they are staring a 3-0 home defeat in the face.

South Africa Form

South Africa lost the 1st T20 by five wickets in an encounter they will feel they should have done better. Much the same can be said about the 2nd T20, but when the pressure came on the Protea bowlers waivered.

Like the opening match, South Africa batted first on a slow pitch at Boland Park. Quinton de Kock got the Proteas off to a fine start with 30 runs but no other batsman surpassed that score as the hosts finished on 146.

England were on the ropes in their batting effort at 83-4 but then South Africa’s bowlers started to produce ordinary deliveries. It still turned out to be a very close match with England winning by four wickets off the penultimate ball of the match.

On a pitch that suited the bowlers, Lungi Ngidi will be disappointed with his return of 2-51 in four overs – going at a rate of 12.75 per over.

South Africa Team News

South Africa could look to make a couple of changes with middle-order power hitter David Miller yet to get a game. He may come in for Heinrich Klaasen while Andile Phehlukwayo could be another bowling option.

England Form

England have won the first two T20 matches of the series and will certainly fancy their chances of making in 3-0. While the matches have been close, England have produced their best cricket under pressure, while South Africa have faltered.

Dawid Malan proved why he is ranked as the world’s best T20 batsmen with a brilliant knock of 55 runs off 40 balls in tough conditions. This was after England had restricted South Africa to 146 runs, thanks in the main to Adil Rashid who took 2-23 in four overs.

Malan and captain, Eoin Morgan (26) put on a superb 50-run partnership just as England looked like they were in huge trouble.

England Team News

The series is won which may mean Moeen Ali, Sam Billings, Chris Jordan, Reece Topley and Mark Wood get an opportunity at Newlands on Tuesday.

South Africa vs England Head to Head

England have won five of their last seven T20 matches against South Africa. This includes the last two matches in the current series.

In their last match England chased down 146 runs to win by four wickets at Boland Park in the 2nd T20 of this series.

South Africa vs England Odds

South Africa are underdogs at 2.62 with England paying 1.50 at bookmaker bet365.

Quinton de Kock can be backed at 3.25 to be South Africa’s best batsman while Jos Buttler is priced at 3.75 in the same market for England.

South Africa vs England Match Up

South Africa’s batsmen have done fine on two difficult pitches, but the bowlers have been a let-down. After having England on the ropes in both of the opening matches, the hosts have failed to put the final nail in the England coffin. This will need to improve if the Proteas want to avoid a 3-0 whitewash.
