The pitch will play a crucial role in this contest, but Australia remains huge favourites. Considering their form, I can’t see Afghanistan getting a positive result unless the pitch takes some turn. I am backing Travis Head in the run scoring markets.

In their first Super Eight game, Afghanistan however came up short against India. India batted first in Bridgetown, scoring 181 runs as Afghanistan bowlers struggled to contain them despite taking regular wickets.

In response, Afghanistan could only muster 134 runs with Azmatullah Omarzai top scoring with 26.

With two successive defeats, Afghanistan may need to change things up a bit. Their main concern will be the lack of runs from batsmen.

In their opening Super 8 fixture, the Aussies beat Bangladesh by eight wickets in a rain affected game. Bangladesh scored 140 runs batting first, which saw Pat Cummins take 3-29.

The rain changed the total for Australia who managed 100 in 11.2 overs with David Warner hitting 53 off 35 balls. Travis Head continued his good form with 31 runs.
