Head to Head

Bangladesh and Scotland have only met once previously in T20 cricket. That match took place in 2012 when Scotland upset the odds to win by 34 runs.

Bangladesh Form

Bangladesh come into this T20 World Cup in superb form having won eight of their last 11 matches in the format. That run includes a 4-1 series win against Australia and a 3-2 series win over New Zealand – both at home.

Their form had not been strong in the preceding couple of years which resulted in them not automatically qualifying for the Super 12 of this World Cup.  The Tigers should however have no issue qualifying through this group phase.

In the series’ wins against Australia and New Zealand, pitches in Dhaka were very spin friendly. There were not many runs scored but Bangladesh’s spinners dominated. That could still be a concern for them as the batsmen have little form heading into the World Cup.

Bangladesh Injuries & Team News

Bangladesh have a number of star players but they are missing talisman Tamim Iqbal. He will not feature at the World Cup at all.

Shakib Al Hasan, Soumya Sarkar, Mushfiqur Rahim and Taskin Ahmed will all be crucial to the Bangladesh cause as they look to find form ahead of the Super 12.

Scotland Form

Scotland come into this match having lost three of their last four T20 matches. That includes two defeats to Zimbabwe and in their last match to Namibia. Scotland’s one victory came just over a week ago against Papua New Guinea.

Batting first against Namibia, Richie Berrington scored 61 runs for Scotland to lead them to a measly total of 137 runs. Only one other player, Craig Wallace, managed to pass the 20-run mark.

Namibia cruised to the total with more than two overs to spare. Mark Watt however bowled well for the Scots, taking 2-11 in four overs.

Scotland Injuries & Team News

Players to watch for Scotland include Richie Berrington who averages 57.86 in 10 T20 international matches. On the bowling front Mark Watt and Safyaan Sharif could prove sticky customers to deal with.

Bangladesh are overwhelming favourites to win so I'm backing Mahmudullah to score over 22.5 runs and be The Tigers best batsman.

Richie Berrington has a batting average over just under 60. He offers great value to be Scotland's top scorer.
