Namibia have a bit more T20I pedigree than Oman coming into this tournament. This is their third World Cup and they have impressed previously. In 2012 they defeated Sri Lanka and in 2022 qualified ahead of the Netherlands and Ireland.

Over their last five T20 games, Namibia have won three and lost two. They also beat Oman 3-2 in a five-match series in April.

After beating Oman in that series, Namibia beat Uganda by five wickets in their first of three warm-up games. They then lost by seven wickets to Australia before defeating Papua New Guinea last time out.

Gerhard Erasmus will lead the side and is also one of their strongest batsmen. He has performed well leading up to the tournament, including a 64-run knock against Oman in the series decider in April.

Oman Form

Oman are also featuring in their third T20 World Cup and they have some momentum ahead of this opener. The Asian nation won five on the trot during the ACC Premier Cup earlier this year but lost the final to the UAE.

Oman played two warm-up games ahead of the tournament, beating Papua New Guinea in the first before their game against Afghanistan was rained out after batting first and scoring 154 in 20 overs.

Aqib Ilyas top scored with a well-played 66 in that game.

I suspect Oman will pick a similar side to the that featured against Afghanistan.
