The USA are unbeaten in their two matches and are at home, but can they cause another major upset against the might of India? It is an unlikely achievement for the USA despite their strong performance to date.

The USA are flying at their home World Cup after winning their opening two games. In their opener, the US chased down an imposing 194 runs set by Canada to win by seven wickets with more than two overs to spare.

They backed it up in sublime fashion in Dallas, beating Pakistan in a Super Over. A good bowling display saw Pakistan restricted to 159 runs in 20 overs.

Monank Patel led the USA’s charge with the bat, scoring 50 off 38 balls. They perhaps should have gotten over the line inside 20 overs, but they faltered and only managed to level the scores. However, in the Super Over, they did enough to beat Pakistan to cause a major upset.

With two wins under their belt, the USA are likely to be unchanged for this encounter.

India Form

India have won their opening two games but have not looked at their absolute best. They beat Ireland in their opener, chasing a score of 96 runs inside 13 overs.

On a poor pitch in New York, India batted first against Pakistan but only managed to score 119 runs in 19 overs before being bowled out. Rishabh Pant top scored with 42 runs.

Against the odds, India defended that total, holding Pakistan to 113 runs in 20 overs. Jasprit Bumrah was the pick off the bowlers, taking 3-14 in four overs.

India’s batsmen have not had much opportunity to flex their muscles in the opening two games. They may well use this as an opportunity to find some form.
