The United States have surprised many with their performance at the T20 Cricket World Cup after they reached the Super 8 stage ahead of Pakistan. Their last match, against Ireland, was rained out without a ball being bowled which certainly helped their cause.

The game before that, the USA lost by seven wickets to India. However, their big win came just before that when the USA beat Pakistan in a Super Over.

The co-hosts won their opening game against Canada so along with the no result against Ireland, five points were sufficient to progress.

The USA are likely to remain unchanged from the team that faced India.

South Africa Form

South Africa reached the Super 8 stage by winning all four games in Pool D. It must however be said that the Proteas have hardly been convincing, winning all their games by narrow margins, especially their one-run win against Nepal last time out.

Batting first against a minnow nation, South Africa could only muster 115 runs in 20 overs. Reeza Hendricks top scored with 43 runs, but their batting struggled as it has for the entire tournament.

Nepal probably should have won the game, like the Netherlands in the match before, but South Africa’s death bowling came to the rescue.

While the Proteas have a settled lineup, their batting has struggled. The pitches have been tough to play on but they need the top order to start finding some form.

South Africa should have the quality to win this fixture. I am backing Reeza Hendricks to top score for the Proteas. Monank Patel is backed in the same market for the USA.
