Australia vs New Zealand 1st Test Betting Tips - Australia favourites with Warner in top form

Run scoring markets offer fantastic value while Boult injury scare worries Black Caps

Australia host New Zealand at the Optus Stadium in Perth for the 1st Test of a three match series. The form of Australians David Warner and Marnus Labuschagne has been incredible recently while Black Caps captain Kane Williamson has been at the top of his game.

Australia Form

Australia dismantled Pakistan in their last series. The 2nd Test at Adelaide saw the hosts bat first and post a mammoth 489-3 declared with David Warner scoring 335 and Marnus Labuschagne 162 runs.

The Aussies dismissed Pakistan for 302 and 239 runs and won by an innings and five runs. Their batsmen will certainly be tested more against New Zealand, but the form of Warner and Labuschagne cannot be discounted and both players should continue to be backed in the run scoring markets.

Australia News

Australia have no reported injury concerns and should go into this match with the same line-up as the one that crushed Pakistan.

New Zealand Form

New Zealand are fresh off a 1-0 series victory against England and arrive in Australia full of confidence. The last Test against England ended in a draw in Hamilton on a very flat pitch.

New Zealand scored 375 runs batting first before England replied with 476 runs. Kane Williamson and Ross Taylor took the Black Caps to 241-2 before play was called off.

Kane Williamson scored 104 runs in that final innings and averages 48.38 against Australia in Test cricket. I will most certainly be looking at Williamson in the run scoring markets.

New Zealand News

The early odds on a result have New Zealand at 6.50 which seems like fantastic value, but kingpin fast bowler Trent Boult is a doubt for the match. All-rounder Colin de Grandhomme is also a doubt.

Australia vs New Zealand Head to Head

Australia have won four of the last five Test matches against New Zealand. Australia won the last encounter by seven wickets in Christchurch in 2016.

Australia vs New Zealand Betting Odds

Australia are favourites at 1.28 to win with New Zealand priced at 6.50. A draw will pay 8.00 but it is a day/night Test so unless rain arrives that is a risky outcome.

The run scoring and other markets are not currently available, we will provide updates when the markets are up.

Australia vs New Zealand Match Up

The key battle for this match will be between Australia’s bowlers and New Zealand’s batsmen. Australia have the best Test bowling line-up in the world while New Zealand struggle with the bat at times if Kane Williamson doesn’t perform.
