Australia have won four of their last five Test matches against the West Indies. They have however not met since 2016 where the Windies managed a draw in the final Test.

With the T20 Cricket World Cup being such a large focus this year, there has not been much focus on Test cricket in recent months. Australia’s last five day game took place in July where they lost by an innings and 39 runs to Sri Lanka.
The two-match series did however end in a draw as the Aussies won the first Test by 10 wickets. Both games were played in Galle. In the second Test, despite defeat, Steven Smith continued his superb career in the long format, scoring 145 runs in the first innings.
Marnus Labuschagne also scored a century in the first innings but not many of the other batters really got going. Despite defeat, Australia will be confident of getting the win on home soil against the West Indies.

With plenty of pace and bounce expected in Perth, the only decision to make here will be whether the hosts go with an all-pace attack. This is unlikely given how successful Nathan Lyon as been.
Scott Boland may be the quick bowlers missing out on selection with Josh Hazelwood, Mitchell Starc and Pat Cummins the three starters. Cameron Green will offer back-up with his bowling.
West Indies Form
West Indies come into this series in good Test cricket form. They have won their last three matches although their last fixture came towards the end of June this year.
The Windies beat Bangladesh 2-0 in a series, and prior to that also beat England 1-0 in a three-match series. Both series was however played on home soil.
Kraigg Brathwaite is key to the West Indies chances in Australia. The left-hander has shown some good form with the bat this year, scoring 94 and 51 runs in both first innings’ against Bangladesh. Kyle Mayers managed 145 runs in the second Test.
West Indies Injuries & Team News
West Indies have a reasonably settled lineup compared the previous tours. They certainly offer a threat with the ball with the likes of Jayden Seales and Kemar Roach. The question will be whether the batsmen can stand up to the quicks of the hosts.
