India can achieve their seventh straight Test match victory when they take on Bangladesh in Indore in the first Test of the series. India’s batsmen have shown great form in the longer format in recent series’ so I’m looking at Rohit Sharma and Mayank Agarwal in the run-scoring markets.

India Form

India have won their last six Test matches and find themselves in superb form heading into this two match series against Bangladesh. In their last series they comfortably defeated South Africa 3-0.

In the final match of the series they won by an innings and 202 runs in Ranchi. Rohit Sharma scored 212 runs in a total of 497 runs. That was his third 100+ score in his last four innings and that form warrants him being backed to score 100+ runs in the match at 3.75.

India’s bowlers then piled on the pressure as they dismissed South Africa for 162 & 133 runs. Mayank Agarwal was in fantastic form with scores of 215 and 108 runs in two of his last four innings and is tipped to score 100+ runs in the match at 4.33.

India are hot favourites with odds of 1.11 and have proven themselves almost unbeatable at home. Against a Bangladesh side low on confidence I can only see one winner in this match.

India News

After resting for the T20 series, captain Virat Kohli is back. Jasprit Bumrah remains absent from the squad as he continues to nurse an injury.

Bangladesh Form

Bangladesh have lost their last three completed Test matches – two against New Zealand and a once off Test against Afghanistan. Chattogram played host as Bangladesh fell to that shock defeat against Afghanistan.

Afghanistan batted first scoring 342 to which Bangladesh could only respond with 205 runs. Another good effort by Afghanistan saw them score 260 runs in the second innings with Bangladesh only managing 173 in their final innings, losing by 224 runs.

The only batsman to show some quality for the Tigers was Mominul Haque who scored 52 runs in the first innings. He can be backed at 4.00 to be Bangladesh’s best batsman.

Bangladesh are massive underdogs at 17.00. It will be a struggle for them to keep a strong Indian batting line-up in check while their batsmen will have to find runs, something they have failed to do in recent times.

Bangladesh News

Bangladesh are under pressure after a poor run. Not many expect victory against India but batsmen like Mushfiqur Rahim and Mominul Haque will need to step and make big plays with bat in hand. Shakib Al Hassan is missing and will be for some time after he received a two year ban.

India vs Bangladesh Head to Head

India have met Bangladesh on nine occasions in Test cricket, with two drawn matches the best Bangladesh have managed to show. India have won the other seven with ease.

Their last match took place in 2017 in Hyderabad where India won by 208 runs. India batted first scoring 687 runs, Virat Kohli was the mainstay scoring 204 runs. Bangladesh managed 388 runs before India raced to 159-4 declared. Bangladesh were then bowled out for 250 runs.

India vs Bangladesh Betting Odds

India are understandably huge favourites with odds of 1.11 while Bangladesh are paying 17.00 to cause a huge upset. Mishfiqur Rahim and Mominul are the favourites to be Bangladesh’s best batsman at 4.00 while Mahmudullah closely follows at 5.00.

There is value in the run scoring markets with Rohit Sharma valued at 3.75 to score a 100+ runs in either innings and Mayank Agarwal has odds of 4.33 to achieve the same feat. Virat Kohli is the favourite to be India’s best batsman at 3.60.

India vs Bangladesh Match Up

The way the sub-continent pitches play the toss plays a big role. Whoever wins it will bat first and for Bangladesh to have any chance they will need the coin to fall in their favour. Spin will play a huge role later in the match but expect a few big scores early in the match.

Post bet analysis

A decent profit on this one. Sharma got out early in the first innings but Mayank Agarwal went on to score 243 runs. Unfortunately Sharma did not get an opportunity in the second innings as Bangladesh couldn't make them bat again.
