New Zealand struggled in response initially, losing three early wickets. A magnificent 138 runs by Tom Blundell rescued the hosts cause as they managed to score 306 runs.

England then smashed their way to 374 in their second innings, leaving New Zealand needing 394 for victory. The hosts never got close as they were all out for 126 runs. Only Daryl Mitchell managed some credit with 57 runs.

England continued their incredible revival in Test cricket with another blistering win in New Zealand. They now just need to draw the second Test to claim a series win.

Batting first Ben Duckett scored 84 off just 68 balls. Harry Brook managed 89 off 81 balls while Ollie Pope scored 42 in a total of 325.

Ollie Robinson then took 4-54 as New Zealand were all out for 306 runs, giving England a 19-run lead. Joe Root, Harry Brook and Ben Foakes all scored 50+ runs in the second innings as England reached 374 runs.

James Anderson and Stuart Broad took four wickets each in the second innings as the hosts stumbled to 126 all out.
