West Indies vs India 2nd Test Preview, Predictions, Betting Tips & Live Stream

The West Indies host India in the 2nd and final Test at Sabina Park as both sides seek Test Championship points. India were comfortable victors in the first Test and I see nothing changing here with Virat Kohli and Ajinkya Rahane offering value in the batsman match runs markets.

West Indies Form & Team News

West Indies have problems and it won’t be sorted out overnight after collapsing in the second innings of the 1st test at North Sound. Equally as concerning is that they started well with the ball but allowed India to get away and score 297 runs.

Batting second the West Indies needed to build a lead but failed to achieve that when they were bowled out for 222 runs. Roston Chase top-scored with 48 runs but numerous batsmen got themselves in and failed to capitilise.

After allowing India to declare on 343-7, the hosts’ best chance of a result was s draw. But no one stood up and they were bowled out for 100 runs thus losing by 317 runs.

The West Indies can be backed at 7.00 to cause a remarkable upset but it would be a huge risk considering their performance. A draw pays 6.00 but they will need a lot of rain or a much better batting effort to achieve even that.

West Indies 2nd Test Match Team

Kraigg Brathwaite, John Campbell, Shamarh Brooks, Darren Bravo, Jahmar Hamilton, Shimron Hetmyer, Jason Holdter, Roston Chase, Rahkeem Cornwall, Kemar Roach, Shannon Gabriel.

India Form & Team News

India did not start well in the 1st Test in North Sound as a cluster of wickets had them looking down the barrel at 93-4 after being sent in to bat. Ajinkya Rahane steadied the ship with 81 runs while Ravindra Jadeja contributed 51 runs. The total of 297 looked par for the pitch.

Ishant Sharma bowled beautifully as he took 5-43 to dismiss the hosts for 222 runs, 75 runs behind India. Virat Kohli (51), Ajinkya Rahane (102) and Hanuma Vihari (93) sent India to an imposing 343/7 declared total, setting the Windies a total of 419 runs to win.

Jasprit Bumrah ensured the hosts would get nowhere close in an incredible spell of bowling. He took 5-7 in his best ever Test match figures. The West Indies were bowled out for a paltry 100 runs, losing by 319 runs.

Heads turned ahead of the first Test as Ravichandran Ashwin missed out on selection as did Rohit Sharma. Despite them being world class performers I doubt they will return for the second Test given the team performance.

India are understandably favourites at 1.33 but there is far more value in the batsman match runs market. Given Ajinkya Rahane’s knocks of 81 and 102 it is hard to ignore him so I’m tipping him to be India’s best first innings batsman at 7.50.

Virat Kohli scored 51 runs in the second innings but history tells us he is always a good bet. At 3.50 I believe there is value in him scoring a 100+ in either innings.

India 2nd Test Match Team

West Indies vs India Head to Head

The West Indies poor performances against India in Test cricket continued in the first test against India with a 318-run defeat. They have now only one two of the last 27 Test matches against India.

West Indies vs India Match Up

This match will be largely decided on how West Indies batsmen deal with the bowling of India. No batsman within their line-up has consistently produced top performances and the first Test showed that that problem is likely to persist.

India know they have the bowlers to dominate the Windies so they will have to ensure that can runs are put on the board. Virat Kohli and the in-form Ajinkya Rahane will be the key batsmen.

The value for me all lies with India. My best bet tip is for the world's premier batsman Virat Kohli to score a 100+ runs in either innings.

Post bet analysis

Virat Kohli looked well on his way to a century before uncharacteristically throwing his wicket away on 76 in the first innings. The second innings he got a first-ball duck. Vihari scored 111 which put pay to any chance of Ajinkya Rahane repeating his feats from the Test before. Two losses, not a good day out.
