England failed to complete a third T20I win in a row against Australia (stretching back to July 2023) when they suffered a heavy loss in the 1st T20I at Sydney.

England’s bowlers took a hammering as Australia posted an imposing score of 198/7 off their 20 overs. Sophie Ecclestone (2/26, econ 6.50) did well to keep the Aussies in check during her overs.

England recovered from losing two quick wickets and were on track for the win at 96/3 at the halfway mark. Sophia Dunkley scored a brutal 59 off 30 balls, including four sixes. The loss of Dunkley sparked a collapse that England couldn’t recover from, and they were bowled out for 141 off 16 overs.
