England are favourites but if the pitch is slow and takes some turn, Afghanistan will be in with a shout. With the result debatable, my best bet is for Tom Prest to score over 23.5 runs.

England cruised through the ICC under-19 Cricket World Cup group stage by beating Bangladesh, Canada and UAE.

None of the three games really tested them. England then came up against South Africa where Rehan Ahmed took 4-48 to restrict the South Africans to 209 runs.

Jacob Bethell smashed 88 runs off 42 balls to get England off to a flying start. They ended up winning by six wickets with more than 18 overs to spare.

Afghanistan U19 Form

Afghanistan have reached the semi-final of the under-19 World Cup for the first time in their history. They managed it by finishing second in Group C, beating Zimbabwe and Papua New Guinea before losing to Pakistan.

In the Super League quarter-final, the Afghanistan side won a tense low scoring match against Sri Lanka in Coolige. When Sri Lanka bowled Afghanistan out for 134 runs, the match looked all but over.

A magnificent bowling and fielding effort however saw Afghanistan win by four runs. There were four run outs in the Sri Lankan innings while all Afghanistan’s bowlers were superb.
