Australia vs Bangladesh Women Predictions

This will be one of the biggest upsets in Women’s cricket history if Bangladesh somehow manage a win. It is however very unlikely given the form of the two sides.

The value is with Alyssa Healy to score big, especially if the Aussies bat first.

  • Australia have won their last 6 T20I matches.
  • Australia’s Alyssa Healy scored 55 runs in her last match.
  • Australia beat Bangladesh in their only previous T20I encounter.
  • Bangladesh have lost their last 4 T20I matches.

Head to Head

Australia won their only previous T20 match by 86 runs against Bangladesh. That fixture took place in February 2020.

Australia Women Form

Australia Women came into this World Cup as clear favourites to retain their title. Nothing thus far suggests that it will change.

In their World Cup opener the Aussie women annihilated New Zealand by 97 runs in Paarl. Batting first, Australia scored 173 runs. Alyssa Healy top scored with 55 runs while Meg Lanning and Ellyse Perry both scored 40+.

New Zealand never threatened the score, losing two wickets inside the first over. Ashleigh Gardner was the pick of the bowlers, taking 5-12 in three overs as New Zealand were all out for a paltry 76 runs.

It is so early in the tournament their should be no need to rest players. The selectors could however give a couple of players a run for game time in this clash.

Bangladesh Women Form

Bangladesh lost their World Cup opener by seven wickets against Sri Lanka. They never really got going batting first in Cape Town.

Sobhana Mostary top scored with 29 runs while Nigar Sultana added 28. Only one other player scored 20 while the others faltered to a score of 126.

There was a stage where things got tight as Bangladesh Women produced an impressive bowling performance. They however never had enough runs on the board and Sri Lanka won with 10 balls to spare.

After the opening defeat there may be changes but the selectors won’t panic. An upset win against the Aussies could put their campaign back on track.

Verdict

The value in this fixture is all on Alyssa Healy. She is in great form and often scores big in the T20 format.
