Australia vs India Women’s T20 Cricket World Cup Final Preview & Betting Tips

Australia face India in the 2020 Women’s T20 Cricket World Cup final this weekend at the MCG. India may not have a title to their name but they did beat Australia earlier in the competition which gives them the edge.

India’s Shafali Verma has been superb with the bat during the T20 Cricket World Cup and is tipped to be India’s best batsman. On Australia’s end Beth Mooney has been in-form and is backed in Australia’s best batsman market.

Australia Form

Australia have done just enough to reach the final in front of their home crowd. After suffering defeat to India in their opening match, Australia could barely afford another slip-up. They went on to beat Sri Lanka and New Zealand to make the semi final.

Batting first against South Africa, Australia managed only 134 runs as Beth Mooney scored 28 runs and Meg Lanning 49 runs. It was a below par total but the rain came down and when the reduced overs came out the Proteas needed 93 from 13 overs, a far stiffer challenge.

Australia ended up sneaking through to the final with a five-run victory at the SCG and go into the final as favourites. Their struggles at the T20 World Cup are evident though so I’m going to be backing India who have been near perfect at the tournament.

Australia Women’s T20 Cricket News

Australia have lost world class all-rounder Elysse Perry. She was ruled out prior to the semi final where Sophie Molineux stepped in, did well and is expected to keep her place in the final.

India Form

India are unbeaten at the Women’s T20 World Cup after winning their four group stage matches. Their semi final against England at the SCG was rained out which ensured India progressdue to topping their group.

India’s Shafali Verma has been magnificent with the bat during the T20 Cricket World Cup and has top scored in three of India’s four matches. In her last match Verma scored 47 runs as India cruised to a 7-wicket victory over Sri Lanka at the Junction Oval in Melbourne.

India have never previously made the Women’s T20 Cricket World Cup final but they have been marvelous in Australia. I am leaning towards Verma in the best batsman market while India are valued at 2.37 for the win.

India Women’s T20 Cricket News

India are very unlikely to tinker with their line-up ahead of the final. Barring late a late injury they should remain unchanged.

Australia vs India Head to Head

Overall Australia have won 13 of their 19 matches against India in Women’s T20 cricket but India have won three of the last five. This includes India’s victory over Australia in the 2020 Women’s T20 Cricket World Cup opening match by 17 runs at the SCG.

Australia vs India Betting Odds

Australia are favourites at 1.57 to win while India can be backed at 2.57. In the best batsman market Beth Mooney is available at 3.10 with opening partner Alyssa Healy paying 3.40.

India's Shafali Verma is priced at 2.80 to be the best Indian batsman and at 3.75 to score 50+ runs.

Australia vs India Match Up

India have an exceptionally well balanced side and they have shown their quality during the T20 Cricket World Cup. Key to them succeeding will be getting early wickets as Australia have the best opening batswomen in the world in Beth Mooney and Alyssa Healy.

Should India mange to get the early breakthrough’s they will be well on their way to securing their first ever Women’s T20 Cricket World Cup title.
