In the evening session on day two of the 2025 PDC World Darts Championship, Englishman Connor Scutt will take on New Zealand qualifier, Ben Robb.

The winner of Monday's match will face ninth seed, Damon Heta in Round 2 on December 21st.

Connor Scutt impressed on his World Championships debut in 2023. The Sniper cruised through his opening match against Polish qualifier Krzysztof Kciuk, averaging almost 96, before losing to Gerwyn Price in Round Two.

The 28-year-old rose quickly up the ranking in 2023 and has continued his good form into this year. Scutt has been dominant on the Modus Super Series, while also enjoying some good runs in PDC floor events - most notably in PC 22 back in September, where he made it all the way to the final before losing 8-4 to Gary Anderson.

Ben Robb will be hoping to make it fifth time lucky on the Ally Pally stage. The New Zealander has suffered four first-round exits since making his debut in 2020, losing 3-0 to Ron Meulenkamp and Richard Veentra, and 3-1 to both Rusty-Jake Rodriguez and Mickey Mansell.

Robb secured his return to the World Championships by winning the DPNZ Qualifier in Hamilton, beating countryman Haupai Puha 8-4 in the final. "Big Rig" may have held his own in recent Modus Super Series appearances, but his previous results against established PDC names offer little encouragement.

Verdict

Connor Scutt v Ben Robb

Connor Scutt is 1/8 to win his opening match for the second year running. If "The Sniper" produces anything like his best form, he should put Robb away fairly comfortably.
