The 2025 PDC World Darts Championship begins on Sunday afternoon, with three Round One games leading up to the first match of Luke Humphries' title defence.

The second game on Sunday's schedule sees world number 36, Jermaine Wattimena take on World Championships debutante Stefan Bellmont, who came through the West Europe Qualifier.

Having dropped out of the world's top 50 at the start of the year, Jermaine Wattimena has enjoyed a good run of form over the last six months. "The Machine Gun" beat Mike De Decker, Michael Smith and Mensur Suljovic in the Group Stage of the Grand Slam, and edged out Dimitri Van de Bergh in the following round, before losing to Luke Littler in the quarter-finals.

Wattimena was beaten in his opening match of the World Championships in '22 and '23, but did claim victory in Round One match with Fallon Sherrock 12 months ago, before losing to Martin Schindler just before Christmas. Jermaine can blow hot and cold, but on recent form, he'll fancy his chances.

Stefan Bellmont will be the first player from Switzerland to take part in the PDC World Championships. The 35-year-old came from 2-0 down to beat Jimmy van Schie 7-6 in the West Europe Qualifier, having beaten Berry van Peer and Jurjen van der Velde earlier in the tournament.

Bellmont enjoyed a strong run in Players Championship Event 15 during the summer, beating Riccardo Pietreczko and Cameron Menzies before losing 6-1 to Damon Heta at the quarter-final stage. Stefan hasn't made it past the second round of any PDC event since, but has beaten some decent players on the Modus Super Series and averaged over 90 in all of his matches during the West Europe Qualifier. Wattimena will have to take Bellmont seriously.

Jermaine Wattimena v Stefan Bellmont

I'm fully expecting Jermaine Wattimena to win on Sunday. The world number 36 has plenty of experience on the Ally Pally stage and brings some strong form into his Round One match.

Stefan Bellmont is capable of pushing Wattimena, if he can bring his best darts to the big stage.

Jermaine Wattimena to win 3-1 appeals at 11/5. The Dutchman to hit more 180s in the match is priced up at 5/6 too. That looks like decent value.
