The third and final Round One match on day one of the 2025 PDC World Darts Championship sees Kim Huybrechts take on Keane Barry.

The winner of this first round game will go on to face former World Champion, Gerwyn Price in the final game on day two.

Kim Huybrechts and Keane Barry have met three times since 2022, with Barry winning all three of those matches. The most recent game between the two came in the 2024 UK Open, with Barry winning 10-6.

Since that surprise run to the quarters in 2012, Kim Huybrechts has made it to at least Round 3 in seven of the last 12 World Championships. "The Hurricane" did, however, lose his opening match of the tournament 12 months ago when whitewashed 3-0 by Richard Veenstra.

The 39-year-old will have to enter Round One this year, having dropped down to 41st in the World Rankings. Huybrechts does seem to have upped his game in time for the Ally Pally, though, reaching the final of a European Tour event in October, while also gaining some good results in floor events.

Keane Barry will make his sixth successive appearance in the World Championships on Sunday. Barry has only managed to win one of his previous five Round One matches. The Irishman edged out Hong Kong qualifier Royden Lam in 2022, and claimed a 3-1 win over Reynaldo Rivera of the Philippines 12 months ago.

Once again, Barry earned his spot in the draw through his results on the Developmental Tour. "Dynamite" has reached the Quarter Final stage of three regular Players Championship events and currently holds the bragging rights over Huybrechts, having beaten his opponent convincingly in their three previous encounters.

Verdict

Kim Huybrechts v Keane Barry

Keane Barry will be looking to take a 4-0 lead in the head-to-head standings between himself and Kim Huybrechts. Yet, the young Irishman has yet to produce his best darts on the Ally Pally stage, so maybe playing on the big stage doesn't suit him.

Huybrechts, on the other hand, has plenty of previous in the World Championships and brings some solid form into this year's tournament.

Backing the Belgian at 8/11 to win the match would make sense. Taking 6/4 about Huybrechts to win and hit the most 180s would be my top recommendation.
