The biggest event in darts begins on December 15th, as the 2025 PDC World Darts Championship kicks off at the Alexandra Palace.

The opening week of the tournament will be focussed on the first and second-round action, as the top seeds get their tournaments underway. After Christmas, the action recommences and the 2025 World Champion will be crowned on Friday 3rd January.

Here's our preview of the 2025 PDC World Darts Championship, featuring our rundown of the key players and our best betting tips.

2025 PDC World Championship Odds

2025 PDC World Darts Championship Best Bet - Luke Humphries

The two Luke's dominate the betting for this year's World Darts Championship. LUKE HUMPHRIES (10/3) and Luke Littler have been consistently the best two players in the sport since they met in last year's final, and one of the two will likely lift the biggest prize that darts has to offer.

Following his 7-4 defeat in last year's Final, Littler gained the upper hand over Humphries, beating the World Champion in seven of their next eight matches, including all five encounters during the 2024 Premier League. However, Humphries has fought back in recent months, defeating Littler twice on the European Tour and in the final of the Players Championship to lead the head-to-head between the two with 11 wins to Littler's seven.

Those hoping for another thrilling all-Luke final will be disappointed. Being seeds 1 and 4, Humphries and Littler will meet in the semi-finals, if both get through the early stages of the tournament. If that were to happen, then I'd fancy Humphries to get the better of his younger rival, before going on to lift the Sid Waddell Trophy for a second year in a row.

2025 PDC World Darts Championship Value Bet - Chris Dobey

With the favourites confined to the top half of the draw, the bottom half looks decidedly open. Gary Anderson and Michael van Gerwen are the shortest-priced players in quarters three and four. Yet, for all of his heroics on the floor, Anderson hasn't produced his best darts in televised events this year, and van Gerwen returns to the Ally Pally on the back of his worst season on the circuit.

Wessel Nijman has taken the Developmental Tour by storm in 2025, and made his Pro Tour breakthrough by winning PC 24 back in October. Jonny Clayton and Dave Chisnall have also shown some decent form in recent weeks, and former champion Michael Smith has to be respected.

I'm hopeful of another good run from CHRIS DOBEY (50/1), who has reached the quarter-finals of the last two World Championships. "Hollywood" has won three titles on the floor this season and, while his performances in the televised tournaments haven't been up to scratch, he's becoming more and more comfortable on the Ally Pally Stage.

Dobey could come up against the likes of Josh Rock, Michael Smith - who he saw off 4-0 in Round 4 12 months ago - Wessel Nijman and Jonny Clayton, before potentially facing either Anderson or van Gerwen in his semi-final. However, the 15th seed is more than capable of beating those rivals and I fancy Dobey could make his way to a first World Championship final.

2025 PDC World Darts Championship Special Bet 1 - Chris Dobey to win Quarter 3

9/2 about Chris Dobey to win Quarter 3 looks like a solid bet. As I mentioned earlier, Dobey has the bragging rights over favourite for Quarter 3, Michael Smith. He boasts far more big-stage experience than both Wessel Nijman and Josh Rock, and I'd fancy him to beat Gerwyn Price if the two met at this year's World Championships.

2025 PDC World Darts Championship Special Bet 2 - Dave Chisnall to win Quarter 4

If Gary Anderson and Michael van Gerwen prove vulnerable in the final quarter, then perhaps Dave Chisnall can take advantage. Two victories on the European Tour and one on the floor in Britain have helped "Chizzy" maintain his lofty position in the world rankings.

The sixth seed is no stranger to the latter stages of the World Championships, having reached the quarters on four occasions and the semis in 2021. Luke Humphries averaged 103 when beating Chisnall at the quarter-final stage 12 months ago, but with both Luke's are on the other side of the draw, "Chizzy" could enjoy another decent run in this year's competition. Odds of 9/1 on Chisnall to win Quarter 4 seem generous.

Verdict

Luke Humphries is our best bet in the Outright Winner market for the 2025 PDC World Darts Championships at 10/3.

We're also backing Chris Dobey each-way in the Outright Winner market, Dobey to win Quarter 3 and Dave Chisnall to win Quarter 4.
