PDC World Darts Championship Tips - Day Five Acca
Steve Lennon vs Daniel Larsson
Nordic qualifier, Daniel Larsson won on his only previous appearance at the World Championships. The 39-year-old beat an out-of-sorts Robert Thornton in the first round, before losing 3-0 to Kim Huybrechts, who averaged over 103.
STEVE LENNON has also only won once on the Ally Pally stage, beating Australian James Bailey in the first round. The Irishman has lost to Michael Smith, Alan Norris and Callan Rydz, but all three games went to a deciding set. Lennon has risen to 47th on the PDC rankings over the last year, and he should be too good for Larsson in Saturday's opener.
Scott Waites vs Matt Campbell
Two-time BDO World Champion, SCOTT WAITES makes his first appearance in the PDC's flagship event this weekend. Waites has held his own since winning his PDC Tour Card, and enters this tournament through his Order Of Merit ranking.
Tour matches on the PDC are first-to-six sprints. We know from his time in the BDO that set play suits Waites's game, who can be a slow starter, and he will be itching to show every what he can produce on the big stage.
His opponent is Canadian Matt Campbell, who lost 3-1 to Mark McGeeney - himself a former BDO World Finalist - in the first round last year. Waites is a better, more consistent player than McGeeney, and he offers plenty of value here at 8/13.
Damon Heta vs Danny Baggish
Danny Baggish edged out Andy Boulton in the first round on his World Championships debut 12 months ago, and took the first set off Nathan Aspinal before losing 3-1. The American will be no pushover for DAMON HETA, but I put the Australian up as a sneaky pick to win Quarter 2, so I have to include him in this acca.
On his World Championship debut last year, Heta thrashed Jose De Sousa 3-0 in the first round, before losing out to an in-form Glen Durrant. Heta has beaten many of the world's best players on the tour this season, and I expect he will come through his first round match in good style.
Michael Van Gerwen vs Ryan Murray
When they met in a UK Open qualifier in 2017, MICHAEL VAN GERWEN hit two nine-dart finishes against Kyle Murray. Murray won his first-round match against Lourence Ilagan 3-1 to set up a rematch with the world number one, but an average of just 87 won't have worried the tournament favourite.
Van Gerwen comes into this on the back of a much-needed win at the Players Championships Finals, and should really beat Ryan Murray 3-0. He will have to register that scoreline for our best to come in, as we've handicapped the favourite by -2.5, but that shouldn't stop "the Green Machine" bringing our day five accumulator home.
