PDC World Darts Championship Odds – Michael van Gerwen 13/5 favourite for Ally Pally crown
- 2023 World Darts Championship starts Thursday
- Bookies make Michael van Gerwen outright favourite
- MVG 13/5 ahead of 6/1 Price & 13/2 Smith at Coral
Michael van Gerwen is the outright favourite to win the PDC World Darts Championship ahead of the tournament.
The 2023 competition gets underway on Thursday, and the bookies believe MVG will regain his crown and become world champion for the fourth time.
Coral make the Dutchman the 13/5 favourite ahead of 6/1 rival Gerwyn Price.
Peter Wright, the current holder of the Sid Waddell Trophy, is 11/1 to win back-to-back world titles after a difficult 2022 season.
“The darts has become one of the sporting highlights of the Christmas period for a lot of people,” Coral’s Lewis Knowles told FreeTips.com.
“And although Michael van Gerwen is a strong favourite, beyond that it looks an extremely open tournament.
“The World Championship has thrown up plenty of shocks over the years, and I’m sure this year will be no different.”
Fallon Sherrock was controversially awarded a place at this year’s championship despite failing to qualify through the Women’s order of merit.
She finished behind both Lisa Ashton and Beau Greaves, but the PDC opted to create an extra spot for the Women’s World Matchplay winner and she is 500/1 to go all the way at Ally Pally.
“It was a tremendous spectacle when Fallon Sherrock lit up Alexandra Palace by becoming the first female to win a match there back in 2019,” Knowles added.
“Fallon is available at 500/1 to win this year’s tournament, but Beau Greaves is certainly a name to watch out for.
"At just 18 years of age, she broke the record average for a female player earlier this year, and at 250/1, she could be a lively outsider.”
