Michael van Gerwen is the 6-5 favourite with bookmaker Coral to win the PDC World Championships and retain his title after clearing the first hurdle with a win on Friday night.

Gerwyn Price is the 4-1 second favourite, with Peter Wright best of the rest at 12-1.

Raymond van Barneveld, playing in his final tournament, is a 150-1 outsider.

"MVG started slowly, losing his first set of the tournament, but showed exactly what he's about and why he's the hot favourite here once again. We make him odds against, but only just, at 6-5 to retain his title and go all the way and plenty of punters are backing him," said Coral's Harry Aitkenhead.

"Gerwyn Price has had a fantastic 2019 and he looks the nearest challenger. Plenty of old faces haven't enjoyed the best of years and Gary Anderson is a relative outsider at 25-1 considering his pedigree, whilst Barney is 150-1 for the fairytale finish to a glittering career," added Aitkenhead.
