The third and final first-round match in the afternoon session on day three of the 2025 PDC World Darts Championship sees world number 33, Ryan Joyce face Darius Labanauskas.

The winner of Tuesday's match will go on to face 13th seed, Danny Noppert on December 21st.

Ryan Joyce will be making his seventh successive appearance in the World Championships on Tuesday. "Relentless" enjoyed his best run through the competition on debut in 2019, beating Simon Whitlock, Alan Norris and James Wade before a 5-1 Quarter Final defeat to that year's champion, Michael van Gerwen.

The 39-year-old showed his liking for set play with a run to the semi-finals in this year's Grand Prix, where he was beaten by Luke Humphries, having earlier dumped Josh Rock, Nathan Aspinall and Rob Cross out of the tournament. Since that run to the Quarters, Joyce has been beaten in either the first or second round in his last five World Championship appearances. Having performed well on the floor in recent months, he'll be itching to make an impact.

Like Joyce, Darius Labanauskas reached the Quarter Final stage during his best run at the World Championships in 2020. Again, like his opponent on Tuesday, the Lithuanian was beaten by Michael van Gerwen, having knocked Ian White, Max Hopp and Steve Beaten out in the earlier rounds.

Once ranked inside the world's top 30, the 48-year-old lost his PDC Tour card in 2023 and failed to qualify for last year's World Championships. However, "Lucky D" has been impressing in the Modus Super Series this year and earned his way back to the Ally Pally with a strong showing in the PDC Nordic & Baltic Pro Tour Finals.

Verdict

Ryan Joyce v Darius Labanauskas

In terms of playing styles, Ryan Joyce and Darius Labanauskas are very similar. Neither are particularly high scorers, but they are consistent and more than proficient on the outer ring.

Joyce brings by far the higher level of form into this match, but he has proven susceptible to early exits in the World Championships of late. I'm expecting "Relentless" to go through, but there's every chance that this first round match will go to a deciding set.
