Luke Humphries hadn't been at his best in the earlier rounds at Ally Pally but was hugely impressive in a 5-1 victory over Dave Chisnall in the quarters. Cool Hand Luke should win through to the final, but I like Williams with a +3.5 set start.

Having shown plenty of promise throughout his career, Scott Williams is finally showing everyone what he can do on the big stage.

"Shaggy" saw off Haruki Muramatsu, Danny Noppert and Martin Schindler in the early rounds, before sealing his first Quarter-Final appearance with a 4-1 victory over Damon Heta.

Williams took advantage of a poor performance from Heta, who missed a hatful of chances to make the scoreline more respectable.

The Australian may have been put off by Williams's antics on stage, as he paused to stoke up the crowd a couple of times, including before the final dart of a memorable 170 finish.

In the quarter-final on Monday, Williams stunned former champion Michael van Gerwen in a 5-3 victory over MVG to reach the semis for the first time.

Luke Humphries has risen to number three in the World Rankings, following a monumental 2023 season and is into the semi-finals for the first time at the World Championships.

The 2019 World Youth Champion made his Major breakthrough at the World Grand Prix, coming from a set down to beat Gerwyn Price 5-2 in the final.

A month later, Cool Hand Luke romped to victory in the Grand Slam, before beating Ryan Searle, James Wade, Ryan Joyce and Michael van Gerwen on his way to winning the Players Championship Finals in November.

In the second round at Ally Pally, Humphries defeated Lee Evans 3-0 but had to win final set deciders to beat Ricardo Pietreczko 4-3 in the third round and Joe Cullen in the fourth round.

Humphries was much more clinical in the quarter-final on Monday as he defeated Dave Chisnall 5-2 to progress to the last four for the first time.

Luke Humphries was much improved in a comprehensive quarter-final win. The world number three should progress, but I like Scott Williams with a +3.5 set start from a punting point of view.
