The tournament is also known as the Betfred World Matchplay for sponsorship reasons.

The PDC World Matchplay is being played from 17-25 July 2021 and returns to the Winter Gardens in Blackpool this year.

There are 32 players competing including the top 16 on the PDC Order of Merit and top 16 players on the ProTour Order of Merit.

2021 PDC World Matchplay Darts Dates & Schedule


The 2021 PDC World Matchplay is being played from 17-25 July and returns to the Winter Gardens in Blackpool.

There is action across all nine days as the top 16 players on the PDC Order of Merit and top 16 players on the ProTour Order of Merit collide.

The first round matches take place from Saturday, July 17 to Monday, July 19. The second round matches are on July 20-21 before the quarter finals take place on Thursday, July 22 and Friday, July 23.

The semi-finals feature on Saturday, July 24 before the winner is crowned on Sunday, July 25.

PDC World Matchplay Format


All games at the PDC World Matchplay have to be won by two clear legs. Games are extended if necessary up to six extra legs before a tie-break leg is required. 

  • First round - Best of 19 legs
  • Second round - Best of 21 legs
  • Quarter-finals - Best of 31 legs
  • Semi-finals - Best of 33 legs
