Miami Heretics brought in SupeR for the third stage of the season and have so far played just one game against the new Vegas Falcons. It was a banger of a game, which Miami Heretics won on map five by picking up Control-Hacienda (3-0) and both Search & Destroy maps on Dealership (6-5) and Hacienda (6-2).

It was a solid game from the Heretics, but hardly an indication of any notable improvement. It marked their first win over five games and third over a 10-game stretch.

That includes a 3-0 sweep of OpTic Texas in the first round of CDL 2025 Major 2 Qualifiers, which sounds promising, but that was when OpTic were in rough form.

OpTic Texas have since improved. Miami Heretics have not.

OpTic Texas brought in Huke at the end of March to find more stability for CDL 2025 Stage 3, and so far, this has yielded positive results.

While OpTic had a slower start, needing five maps to make it past Minnesota RØKKR (3-2) in the first match of the qualifiers, they crushed Cloud9 New York with 250-148 on Hardpoint-Vault, 6-3 on Search & Destroy-Protocol, and 3-1 on Control-Hacienda.

Huke was the man of the match, averaging a 1.43 K/D and 1.35 rating, although his teammates were not too far behind, with Dashy and Shotzzy both ending the series with a +1.21 K/D.

It was a significant improvement from Stage 2 and possibly a sign of good things to come.

Verdict

Miami Heretics v OpTic Texas

Miami Heretics have yet to lose to OpTic Texas; however, the first win was a fluke, and the other happened when OpTic were in terrible form, so those results do not hold as much weight.

More importantly, OpTic have looked much better over the first week of CDL 2025 Major 3 Qualifiers and look more than ready to get their revenge. Admittedly, OpTic have yet to face a good team, so it is not fair to praise them too much – but it is not like Miami Heretics are a good team.

A comfortable victory for OpTic is likely on the cards.
