Stake has Eternal Fire priced as 1.65 favourites to defeat Astralis on Monday, whereas the Danes are 2.20 underdogs to come out ahead of this BO1 series. Given Astralis' past showings, this price sounds fair; however, they are due to find some traction under a new in-game leader.
- Astralis have recently signed Casper "cadiaN" Møller
- Eternal Fire reached the ESL Pro League Season 20 finals last month
- Astralis (#18) are worse-ranked than Eternal Fire (#7)
Head to Head
Eternal Fire and Astralis have yet to meet with their current lineups.
Eternal Fire Form
Eternal Fire have recently found serious momentum with two runner-up finishes at BetBoom Dacha Belgrade 2024 #2 and ESL Pro League Season 20, where the Turkish Counter-Strike team proved they can dance with the best.
They travel to Brazil with a 70.4% win rate over the last three months and are 9-3 over the last 12 series, with a defeat against Team Spirit and two against Natus Vincere.
This explosive resurgence should give anyone hope that Eternal Fire are capable of competing for the Intel Extreme Masters Rio 2024 trophy, and rightfully so. However, it is also worth noting that over their last nine victories, they've managed to defeat only one top-10-ranked team, Team Vitality.
Eternal Fire Squad & Team News
No roster changes for Eternal Fire.
- İsmailсan "XANTARES" Dörtkardeş
- Buğra "Calyx" Arkın
- Engin "MAJ3R" Küpeli
- Ali "Wicadia" Haydar Yalçın
- Özgür "woxic" Eker
Astralis Form
Ever since Astralis' small resurgence in April, which lasted until June, the Danish Counter-Strike team have been struggling a lot in the upper echelons of the Counter-Strike esports scene. Yet they reached a new low in September, with a 21st-28th-place finish at ESL Pro League Season 20.
The abysmal showing in Malta led to some much-needed roster changes and the arrival of ex-Team Liquid and HEROIC in-game leader Casper "cadiaN" Møller, who took over the reins of Astralis for BLAST Premier: Fall Final 2024. Unfortunately, his debut did not end as expected, as Astralis crashed out of the tournament in last place with losses against Team Vitality and Team Spirit.
Astralis are 1-7 from their last eight series and 0-2 under a new IGL. And while this does not look great, things can only go up from here.
Astralis Squad & Team News
Astralis signed Casper "cadiaN" Møller as a new in-game leader on September 17.
- Casper "cadiaN" Møller
- Nicolai "dev1ce" Reedtz
- Victor "Staehr" Staehr
- Martin "stavn" Lund
- Jakob "jabbi" Nygaard
Verdict
CadiaN's debut with Astralis did not end as planned, but it is fair to expect the Danish lineup to find more momentum with time. Now they've had over a week to iron things out and implement new strategies, which, combined with the raw talent on this roster, should be enough for Astralis to reach new heights.
Eternal Fire are in much better shape heading to IEM Rio 2024, and they're rightly priced as favourites. However, qualitatively, they are hardly better than Astralis, so it is hard to justify taking their side at this number.
