FlyQuest kicked off their ESL Pro League Season 20 campaign with a 0-2 loss against Eternal Fire, where they failed to look particularly good. The Australian Counter-Strike esports team had their moments on the day, though, and played a relatively close map on Inferno (10-13) yet showed less resistance on Dust II (7-13).

It marked their first match on the European soil since Intel Extreme Masters Cologne, where FlyQuest crashed out in last place with defeats against MongolZ and BIG, having previously exited the Esports World Cup 2024 with two defeats against FURIA and FaZe Clan.

This is not a particularly inspiring record to hold, however, FlyQuest can be competitive on a good day and they are now set to face FaZe Clan who've been anything but great over the last few weeks.

FaZe Clan were billed as strong candidates to qualify out of ESL Pro League Season 20 Group A, but they failed to show it in the first round. Against all the odds, FaZe Clan kneeled in front of surging Sangal Esports (1-2), producing a worrying performance against a lower-rated team.

FaZe got crushed on Anubis (2-13), got back up with a close 13-11 win on Ancient and lost the final map on Nuke with 11-13. It wasn't a very close game and it could've easily ended in Sangal Esports sweeping the world no.6, so it is fair to doubt FaZe and their chances to live up to the expectations in this tournament.

FlyQuest v FaZe Clan

FaZe Clan are the better team in this contest, and they have already beaten FlyQuest twice since April. However, despite their status as one of the world's elite Counter-Strike teams and strong head-to-head record, FaZe Clan are not in the best shape.

They didn't look great at BLAST Premier: Fall Showdown 2024 and even worse in the opening round of Group A, when they lost to Sangal Esports. While this doesn't prove FaZe Clan will lose to FlyQuest, it is fair to assume FaZe won't be as dominant as many expect.
