Fnatic vs Astralis Predictions

Fnatic and Astralis will meet on Tuesday, September 10, 2024, in the first round of Group C at ESL Pro League Season 20, marking their first clash of the year. According to the latest esports betting odds, however, this should be a fairly one-sided fixture, favouring the Danes.

Fnatic are priced as 3.10 underdogs with Counter-Strike bookmakers to defeat Astralis, who are 1.35 favourites. Astralis have shown some progress over the last month, which explains the offered price, although, at 1.35, you have to consider looking the other way.

  • Astralis are 5-5 from their last ten
  • Fnatic have won seven of their last ten games
  • Astralis (#10) are higher ranked than Fnatic (#22)

Head to Head

Astralis and Fnatic have not met once since 2022.

Fnatic Form

Fnatic found some success in June and July when they placed second at FiReLEAGUE Global Final 2023 and CCT Season 2 European Series #6 and won RES European Series #6. Since then, their success has been limited to a fourth-place finish at Intel Extreme Masters Rio 2024: European Qualifier and, more recently, an early exit from Thunderpick World Championship 2024: European Series #2.

Form-wise, however, Fnatic are in a fine spot. They've lost just three of their last ten series against 3DMAX, HEROIC, and ECSTATIC. On the other hand, they have beaten Cloud9, OG, Gaimin Gladiators and a few lower-ranked teams.

For a while now, we have not seen Fnatic do well at the highest level, which makes it fair to question whether they have the tools to defeat Astralis on Tuesday. On the other side, Astralis are not the most consistent team, so it will mostly come down to how well the Danes do on the day.

Fnatic Squad & Team News

Fnatic have not made any recent roster changes.

  • Freddy "KRIMZ" Johansson
  • Aurélien "afro" Drapier
  • Alexandre "bodyy" Pianaro
  • Matúš "matys" Šimko
  • Benjamin "blameF" Bremer

Astralis Form

Astralis did very well in April-May when they placed top four in four consecutive S-Tier Counter-Strike esports tournaments. However, since then, the Danes have managed just two top-six finishes at BLAST Premier: Spring Final 2024 and Fall Groups 2024, and a ninth-12th-place finish at Intel Extreme Masters Cologne 2024.

Looking at Astralis' most recent results, they have not done too poorly. They are 3-3 in the last six, with wins against Falcons, Ninjas in Pyjamas, and 9z Team and three defeats against Team Vitality, Natus Vincere, and G2 Esports. It is not the most exciting run, but Astralis still played a competitive series against Vitality, NaVi, and G2 Esports, which counts for something.

Astralis Squad & Team News

Verdict

Fnatic have not been particularly great over the last month. They have won games against weaker opponents quite comfortably but have not really been tested against a top-rated squad, so it is fair to question whether they are ready for Astralis.

While Astralis' form recently hasn't been the best, they have posted very competitive games against the likes of Falcons, Vitality, Natus Vincere, and G2 Esports, which suggests that Astralis might be back on track to compete for big events.

Fnatic are good enough to take advantage of Astralis' slip-ups, but given their past showings, a 2-0 sweep for the Danish squad seems more likely.
