IEM Summer 2021 Tips & Preview

Gambit come into the Intel Extreme Masters on the back of a second place finish at the DreamHack Masters Spring and deserve the favourite's tag for IEM Summer XVI.

The Gambit outfit are the world's number one CS:GO team following an impressive start to 2021.

They won the IEM World Championship and the BLAST Premier before being runners-up at DreamHack Masters Spring, and have been the model of consistency.

Natus Vincere, who beat Gambit 3-0 in the final of the DreamHack Masters Spring, aren't competing in Intel Extreme Masters.

Where will the big threat come from this time? Gambit have had some notable battles with Heroic, and they could be the chief rivals for the title.

Heroic won 3-2 at ESL Pro League Season 13 before Gambit ousted them with a 2-1 en route to winning BLAST Premier.

Former world number ones Astralia have been below their best this year since finishing second at the BLAST Premier: Global Finals in January.

Virtus Pro were second at the IEM World Championship, but have also not threatened enough this year to think they can turn the tables on Gambit.

G2 have been more consistent, reaching the BLAST Premier Spring Finals and making the semi-finals of DreamHack Masters Spring. They also defeated Heroic at Flashpoint Season 3 and could offer the value alternative to Gambit.
