M80 and FURIA will clash in the lower bracket of Group B at BLAST Open Spring 2025 in what promises to be an exciting affair between two Counter-Strike 2 teams who have a lot to prove.

Both sides started the tournament with a loss, as M80 lost to The MongolZ, whereas FURIA had to admit defeat to Natus Vincere. M80 did better in the opener and took one map off the Mongolian outfit, whereas FURIA got swept by NaVi, albeit they did force an overtime.

On paper, this should be FURIA’s game to lose, but they’ve been nothing but disappointing since the turn of the year and are not a team I would trust as favourites. At best, this is a 50/50 match, so I’ll gladly side with M80 at outsider odds.

M80 entered BLAST Open Spring 2025 as one of the biggest outsiders, having yet to prove much in bigger Counter-Strike 2 tournaments as they recently crashed out of ESL Pro League Season 21 in 17th-19th place.

At ESL Pro League, M80 lost to SAW (1-2), 3DMAX (0-2), and FURIA (1-2), which makes it fair to question their chances of defeating the Brazilians this time out. However, that series does not prove M80 are much weaker, especially after their promising display against MongolZ in round one of BLAST Open Spring 2025.

M80 came very close to sweeping The MongolZ on Thursday but ended up short with 11-13 on Dust II, 13-11 on Ancient and 3-13 on Inferno. A tough loss, but a good performance from the American-German roster.

FURIA Form

FURIA are one of the most disappointing teams in the upper echelons of competitive Counter-Strike 2. They’ve so far this season attended BLAST Bounty Spring 2025, Intel Extreme Masters Katowice 2025, and ESL Pro League Season 21, but never placed higher than top-14.

This alone is a good indication of how FURIA fare when faced with good teams, but their 4-6 record from the last 10 tells enough, as it only includes wins against Lynn Vision Gaming, NRG, M80, and MIBR.

Despite their struggles, FURIA showed some fight against Natus Vincere in the BLAST Open Spring 2025 opener and forced overtime on Anubis (12-16). Mirage (8-13) was much more one-sided.

Verdict

M80 v FURIA

FURIA defeated M80 earlier this month, and according to the latest betting odds, they’re expected to do it again. Besides the better head-to-head record, there is little to support that claim.

M80 performed admirably well in their opening match of BLAST Open Spring 2025 when they nearly defeated The MongolZ. If they can keep at it, M80 should have an excellent chance to defeat FURIA, who have been nothing short of disappointing since the start of the season.

At outsider odds, M80 are an excellent bet.
