Yet despite the low expectations, MIBR proved all the doubters wrong and placed second in their group with victories against 9z Team and Team Spirit and just one loss agianst G2 Esports (0-2) in the upper bracket final.

Whether this run was just a fluke is up to debate, but MIBR have been playing much better than initially expected.

MIBR and HEROIC have both made it further than initially expected, although it would be fair to say that they’ve had it fairly easy. Perhaps more HEROIC than MIBR, as they’ve only beaten one notable team in Virtus.pro, yet even the Russian squad have not been performing too well this tournament.

MIBR are still priced as underdogs, which makes sense given their lack of success leading to ESL Pro League Season 20. However, if their recent showings are more than just a flash in the pan, the offered betting odds should be reversed.
