Natus Vincere vs GamerLegion Predictions

Natus Vincere and GamerLegion will clash on Saturday, May 13, in the first round of BLAST.tv Paris Major 2023 Legends Stage. Natus Vincere, who are expected to do well at the Major, are priced as heavy favourites to come out ahead, but there’s more to this match than just the team’s raw quality.

Esports bookmakers have Natus Vincere priced as 1.25 favourites to defeat GamerLegion who enter Saturday’s match as 3.75 underdogs. The offered Counter-Strike: Global Offensive make sense, considering Natus Vincere are one of the main candidates to win the Major (5.50); however, that doesn’t necessarily mean that NaVi will dominate the game.

  • Natus Vincere are known to start tournaments slow
  • GamerLegion have already proven their worth in the Challengers Stage
  • This game could be closer than expected

Head to Head

Natus Vincere and GamerLegion have never met before.

Natus Vincere Form

Natus Vinere enter BLAST.tv Paris Major 2023 as one of the main candidates to win the tournament and secure the organisation’s second Major title. That’s hardly surprising given NaVi’s consistency and success over the last few months.

Even though Natus Vincere have not won a single tournament since the turn of the year, they’ve also not placed lower than top four since Intel Extreme Masters Katowice 2023 in February. That includes three semi-final appearances at IEM Katowice, ESL Pro League Season 17, and, most recently, at IEM Rio 2023.

Moreover, NaVi are 12-2 over their last 14 series, while their only two defeats came against FaZe Clan (1-2) and the current no.1 team in the world, Heroic (0-2). Evidently, NaVi are in a very good spot to make a splash at the Major, but will they be as dominant in their game against GamerLegion as the latest betting odds suggest?

Natus Vincere Squad & Team News

Natus Vincere have not announced any lineup changes.

  • Oleksandr "s1mple" Kostyljev
  • Denis "electroNic" Sharipov
  • Ilya "Perfecto" Zalutskiy
  • Valerij "b1t" Vakhovsjkyj
  • Andrij "npl" Kukharsjkyj

GamerLegion Form

World ranking-wise GamerLegion are not even close to Natus Vincere and they’ve not achieved anything even remotely as impressive as NaVi this season. They did, however, do well at some lesser events.

GamerLegion claimed silver from CCT West Europe Series #1 and CCT North Europe Series #4, and won Elisa Invitational Winter 2023 in March. Since then, they haven’t accomplished much, besides successfully making it though the BLAST.tv Paris Major 2023 Challengers Stage.

In the Challengers Stage, GamerLegion lost their first two games against Complexity and The MongolZ, but then bounced back with three wins against MOUZ, OG, and FORZE Esports, to secure a spot in the Legends Stage by the skin of their teeth.

GamerLegion Squad & Team News

GamerLegion won’t make any roster changes.

  • Ivan "iM" Mihai
  • Isak "isak" Fahlén
  • Frederik "acoR" Gyldstrand
  • Kamil "siuhy" Szkaradek
  • Nicolas "Keoz" Dgus

Verdict

As the latest CS:GO betting odds show, Natus Vincere are much stronger than GamerLegion and should win on Saturday with ease. That sounds like a fair assessment since NaVi would defeat GL more times than not, but there is one important thing we’re missing.

Natus Vincere always have a slow start to any tournament they attend. This has been the case for years now, and while it’s tough to say exactly why NaVi struggle early into tournaments, there’s no denying that they do.

I don’t expect NaVi to lose, but the round line for this match is set at 5.5, which is very generous. At the offered betting odds, I prefer GamerLegion with a five-map advantage, both because I don’t trust NaVi to keep GL at single digits and because GamerLegion showed enough last week for me to have hope they can show some resistance.
