Esports bookmakers have OG priced as 2.25 underdogs for this match, which makes sense, knowing that OG will field two stand-ins and are nearing a major roster overhaul. So even though FURIA haven’t achieved much lately, they’re expected to defeat the weakened OG, and are priced accordingly at 1.57.

OG are not in the best shape ahead of IEM Dallas 2023. They have yet to win a tournament in 2023, and they didn’t impress at the Paris Major, where OG crashed out in 20th-22nd place. On a more positive note, OG found some success in a couple of lesser events.

A week before the Major, OG reached the semifinals of Brazy Party, and last week made another semifinal at CCT South Europe Series #4. Obviously, that isn’t much of an achievement, as they didn’t have to play any top teams en route to a top-four finish, but at least the roster is playing somewhat well.

At CCT South Europe Series #4 OG fielded the same lineup that will carry the OG banner in Dallas, so even though two members got replaced, the new-look roster had an opportunity to play together.

OG will reportedly make many roster changes this offseason, with Nemanja “nexa” Isaković already out of the team and looking for new opportunities. Nikolaj “niko” Kristensen is also reportedly leaving the team (but is expected to play for OG at IEM Dallas), whereas Abdul “degster” Gasanov is said to be temporarily replaced by Iulian “regali” Harjau at the tournament.

FURIA, like OG, have not won a single tournament in 2023 – excluding the BLAST.tv Paris Major 2023: American RMR. That’s surprising, knowing that this same team made the semifinals of Intel Extreme Masters Rio Major 2022 in November.

Since then, FURIA’s best tournament placement happened in April, when they finished IEM Rio 2023 in fifth-sixth, before crashing out of the Paris Major in 15th-16th with defeats against Monte (7-16), Ninjas in Pyjamas (8-16), and G2 Esports (0-2).

OG will not play with their usual lineup at IEM Dallas 2023, which might be a good reason to doubt them, but this new-look roster performed well at CCT South Europe Series #4, so is it really fair to overreact to the lineup change? The players also know each other and had a chance to play together, so synergy shouldn’t be too bad.

I wouldn’t say that OG are any stronger than FURIA, but I also can’t find a good reason to believe FURIA are stronger than OG. This is a 50/50 match, and as such, I’m taking OG at plus money any day of the week.
