MOUZ entered IEM Chengdu 2024 as one of the main favourites to win the tournament, and they've yet to give us a reason to doubt them. However, they've had a couple of bumps in the road on the way to the upper-bracket final.

The international Counter-Strike squad barely made it past TYLOO (13-11) in the first round of the group stage and then needed to produce a reverse sweep to make it past FURIA Esports in the second round. Against FURIA, MOUZ came very close to getting swept but managed to win overtime on the second map and close out the series with 13-9 on Mirage.

It's fair to say that MOUZ haven't looked as good as many expected so far this tournament. However, this is the same roster that reached the quarterfinals of PGL Major Copenhagen 2024 and the semifinals of Intel Extreme Masters Katowice 2024.

Team Liquid Form

Team Liquid have a very disappointing streak of results over the last year. They've not won a single tournament in 2022 and have yet to come close to hoisting a trophy in 2023. In March, they placed top eight at PGL Major Copenhagen 2024: American RMR, missed the Major, and later exited BLAST Premier: Spring Showdown 2024 in the first round.

Their long streak of concerning results suggested that Team Liquid won't accomplish much in China. However, they're not at the cusp of their best S-Tier tournament result in years.

In the first round of IEM Chengdu 2024, Team Liquid defeated Heroic 13-8 and in the upper bracket semifinals humiliated G2 Esports with a convincing 13-6, 10-13, 13-9 victory. Admittedly, Heroic aren't in the best shape so that victory doesn't count for much. But beating G2 Esports is no small feat.

MOUZ v Team Liquid

Team Liquid exceeded expectations with their victories against Heroic and G2 Esports. But since they've not looked even remotely good in the past month, it's also fair to question whether Team Liquid can continue posting such good results.

If you believe Team Liquid's recent victories are a fluke, betting on MOUZ to sweep is definitely the way to go. However, MOUZ have not been amazing so far this tournament, so while they're still the better team, a moneyline wager is a more reasonable choice.
