Esports bookmakers have priced Virtus.pro as 1.20 favourites to defeat Team Liquid, who enter the match as 4.33 underdogs. Team Liquid were priced at 3.00 a few days back before it was announced that they'll have to play the game without Robert "Patsi" Isyanov.
- Team Liquid are in terrible form
- Virtus. pro's chances to win increased following the announcement of Liquid missing Patsi
- Barring any surprises, VP should win with ease
Head to Head
Team Liquid and Virtus.pro have yet to meet with their current rosters.
Team Liquid Form
Team Liquid's roster revamp during the summer break has yet to lead to any notable accomplishments and even that's an understatement. Team Liquid first suffered an early exit from BLAST Premier: Fall Groups 2023 (7th-9th) and were just as unsuccessful at IEM Cologne 2023 (17th-20th) and Gamers8 2023 (9th-16th).
Since July, Team Liquid have played eight games and won just three, against G2 Esports (2-1), FaZe Clan (2-1), and BIG (2-1). That doesn't sound too bad, but Liquid are 1-5 from their last six, and they haven't looked amazing in any of their recent outings.
Things are looking quite dire for Liquid, who seem like they won't accomplish much with this roster. And to make matters worse, Liquid will be without Robert "Patsi" Isyanov for their match against Virtus.pro, which further decreases their chances of kicking off their ESL Pro League Season 18 campaign with a win.
Team Liquid Squad & Team News
Team Liquid will miss Robert "Patsi" Isyanov for their opening match of ESL Pro League Season 18 due to visa complications. The 20-year-old will be replaced by coach Damian "daps" Steele.

- Aleks "Rainwaker" Petrov

Virtus.pro Form
Virtus.pro have looked decent throughout the 2023 season. Even though they've not won a single Big Event, VP claimed two gold medals from ESL Challenger Katowice 2023 in June and CCT Online Finals #2 in August.
At Gamers8 2023, VP didn't make it far and crashed out of the quarterfinals, but they still won against FaZe Clan (2-1) and nearly took down G2 Esports (1-2). Since Gamers8, Virtus.pro have attended just one tournament - Dunav Party LAN – where they made the finals with wins against CYBERSHOKE (2-0), Aurora (2-1), and 1win (2-1).
Obviously, Virtus.pro are not one of the main candidates to win ESL Pro League Season 18, and I don't see them making it very far. However, they're still rightly priced as favourites to defeat Team Liquid, who are in terrible form and missing a key player.
Virtus.pro Squad & Team News
Virtus.pro have not announced any roster changes.
- Dzhami "Jame" Ali
- Evgeniy "FL1T" Lebedev
- Petr "fame" Bolyshev
- David "n0rb3r7" Daniyelyan
- Nikolay "mir" Bityukov
Verdict
As the CS:GO betting odds suggest, this should be a very straightforward win for Virtus.pro and it's hard to argue with that. The Russian squad have looked good this season, and despite their lack of accomplishments in Big Events, VP have produced solid games even when faced with top-tier teams.
Team Liquid, on the other side, have looked progressively worse since the summer break and will play this match with their coach. This is Virtus. pro's game to lose.
