Team Vitality had a bit of a slip-up early into the year when they exited Intel Extreme Masters Katowice 2024 in 13th-16th. But besides that, they've been one of the more successful Counter-Strike esports teams since late last year.

Ignoring the IEM Katowice 2024 stumble, Vitality have placed top-four in six consecutive tournaments, which includes two runner-up finishes at the most recent ESL Pro League Season 19 and IEM Dallas 2024. That alone is a very good indication of how strong Vitality are – but more importantly, how much better they are than Virtus.pro, who've not seen nearly as much success lately.

Since earlier this year, Vitality have had the tendency to slip in the latter stages of the tournaments. But they've also been consistent in trashing weaker opponents.

Virtus.pro have been struggling to break into the upper echelons of the Counter-Strike esports scene since the start of the season. They have had tier moments, but overall, their results have been fairly mediocre.

In Dallas, Virtus.pro couldn't make it past the group stage and ended the tournament in ninth-11th place. Before that, VP placed top-six at BetBoom Dacha Belgrade 2024 and top-eight at ESL Pro League Season 19. Those are not terrible results, but they are far from what you'd expect from a top team.

On a more positive note, despite struggling to collect notable tournament placements, Virtus.pro have been consistent in giving top teams issues. They took maps off FaZe Clan and MOUZ over the last month. We've also seen them struggle against weaker teams, suggesting that Virtus.pro tend to play to their opponents' level.

Team Vitality are the better team here. They have shown a lot more recently and have far more impressive tournament placements than Virtus.pro since the start of the year.

But this doesn't mean that Vitality will have an easy time beating the Russians.

Virtus.pro are a competent team, who might've not won any significant events lately, but they've consistently shown strong resistance when faced with top-rated teams. It definitely won't be an easy match for Virtus.pro, but the same applies to Vitality, who likely won't walk away unharmed.
