Dota 2 Esports World Cup 2025 will begin on Tuesday, July 8, as one of the first events of the Esports World Cup 2025, alongside VALORANT and Rennsport tournaments.

The event will feature 16 Dota 2 teams, including the defending champions, Gaimin Gladiators; Asian Champions winners; top-eight ranked teams on the EPT Leaderboard; and six teams that qualified through regional qualifiers.

The Dota 2 Esports World Cup 2025 will play out over three stages, taking place between July 8 and 19, with a total of 40 games across the group stage, the elimination phase, and the playoffs.

All 16 participating Dota 2 teams will begin their quest for the Esports World Cup 2025 trophy in the group stage, where they’re divided into four round-robin groups of four with all games played as best-of-two (BO2).

All four teams from each group will proceed; however, only the group stage winners will receive a direct bye ot the playoffs.

The remaining 12 teams will advance to the elimination phase, which will be a gauntlet bracket. Third- and fourth-placed teams will be seeded into the first round, and runners-up will be seeded into the final round.

All elimination phase games are best-of-three (BO3), with the top four squads advancing to the knockout stage.

The playoffs will be single-elimination with all games played as BO3, except for the grand finals, which are best-of-five (BO5).

According to the latest Dota 2 betting odds, Team Spirit are the leading favourites to win the Esports World Cup, priced at 4.00 on the top bookmakers.

Sitting close behind are PARIVISION at 5.00 and Team Liquid and BetBoom Team tied for third at 7.00.

Team Spirit are leading candidates to dominate the EWC despite winning just one Tier 1 event this season, and even that was DreamLeague Season 25 in March.

However, while Spirit have not managed to collect many trophies, they have been very consistent, adding four top-four placements since, including a semifinal run at BLAST Slam III and a fourth-place finish at PGL Wallachia Season 5.

PARIVISION have also been one of the most successful teams of the year, winning two Tier-1 events, including ESL One Raleigh 2025 and DreamLeague Season 26, in addition to reaching the finals of PGL Wallachia Season 4 and placing third in DreamLeague Season 25.

Team Liquid have been one of the most confusing teams of the year. They won PGL Wallachia Season 3 and Season 4, and placed third in PGL Wallachia Season 5. However, they’ve not placed higher than the top six in any other event since the start of the year.

BetBoom Team, who are viewed as serious candidates to claim the trophy, have also been very up-and-down; however, they’ve recently found some traction, with a runner-up finish in DreamLeague Season 26 and a gold medal from PGL Wallachia Season 5.

Sitting behind the leading four teams are Tundra Esports, priced at 8.00.

Despite being given just a 12.5% chance of winning the EWC, Tundra have been in excellent shape recently, with two bronze medals from ESL One Raleigh 2025 and PGL Wallachia Season 4, and a gold medal from BLAST Slam III.

Their early exit from PGL Wallachia Season 5 in June, however, has raised a big question above Tundra and their chances to come out ahead.

Despite not being viewed as big favourites as other top contenders, both teams have shown high highs this season, particularly in the last month. Falcons placed second in BLAST Slam III while Gaimin Gladiators secured a silver medal from PGL Wallachia Season 5.
