JD Gaming are one of the best League of Legends teams in the world, so it makes sense that they're priced as favourites (1.36) for his match. However, while JDG are stronger than EDward Gaming, the latter are priced as huge 3.00 underdogs, which suggests that the gap between the teams is massive.

That might be true due to the recent roster changes EDward Gaming have made due to controversy surrounding their starting ADC. But is changing one player enough to justify JDG being priced at 1.36?

EDward Gaming are one of LPL's best teams, but they've yet to produce anything spectacular this split, with a 1-2 record after three rounds of play. They won their opening match of LPL 2023 Summer against Ninjas in Pyjamas (2-0), then had to admit defeat to Top Esports (1-2) and suffered another loss on Wednesday against Bilibili Gaming (1-2).

Evidently, EDG are not in the best shape, but there's another issue. Earlier this week, EDward Gaming benched its starting ADC Hu "Leave" Hong-Chao, who will reportedly get replaced by Jian "Uzi" Zi-Hao.

Uzi, while an LoL legend and one of the best ADCs from the region, hasn't been actively playing League of Legends for a while. He was last seen competing professionally last year with Bilibili Gaming, and even then, he hasn't impressed.

But considering EDG are willing to give him a chance, then it's fair to assume that perhaps Uzi is back in form. That's one big IF, and his questionable form is one of the main reasons why EDG are priced as 3.00 underdogs.

However, they've had a couple of close calls, and I wasn't too impressed with their performance against LGD Gaming either.

This is still one of the world's best teams, LPL 2023 Spring and MSI 2023 champions, but they're not unbeatable. Are they in a better spot than EDward Gaming? Yes, but the gap between the two teams, even with the roster changes, isn't as big as the latest LoL betting odds might suggest.

According to the latest LoL betting odds, JD Gaming are favourites to defeat EDward Gaming, which isn't too crazy considering JD Gaming already defeated EDG last split and because EDward Gaming will likely play without their starting ADC.

However, even though EDward Gaming are not in the best position, this is still a very strong team, with excellent players across all positions. Betting on a team with an ADC who might or might not be ready to return to the highest level of play is a bit concerning, but at the offered betting odds, EDG to win a map makes the most sense.

People overreacted over the roster change, but there should be a good reason why EDG decided to replace Leave – besides the fact that he flamed his teammates. It's likely that Leave didn't fit in with the team, in which case any change is a positive one.
